Updates and Reminders for City of Talladega
Garbage/Bulk Waste Customer Service

The City of Talladega has renewed a contract with Veolia ES Solid Waste Southeast, Inc. Following are points to remember regarding the collection of your household garbage and trash/yard/bulk waste collections.

• Carts should be placed curbside by 6:00 a.m. on customer collection day. Carts may be placed curbside not more than two days prior to collection day and must be removed within 24 hours of collection. (City Ordinance #1580)
   
  
• All household garbage must be placed inside cart for pick-up.
   
  
• All yard waste consisting of flowers, grass clippings and leaves must be bagged.
   
  
• Trash/bulk waste consisting of trees, limbs, brush, and household items may be placed curbside for pick-up not more than two days in advance of regular collection day. (City Ordinance #1580) Veolia shall collect these items on the same day as normal garbage collection.
   
  
• Trees and limbs must be cut into lengths no longer than six (6) feet with a diameter no greater than ten (10) inches.
   
  
• Carts needing repair should be reported to Talladega Water & Sewer Department at 362-4439.

Rates for the above services are as follows:

• $18.95 per month for one cart per household effective October 1,2008.
• Customers requiring a second cart will be billed an additional $10.00 per month.

Any concerns or complaints should be directed to Talladega Water & Sewer Department at 362-4439. Veolia cannot make any changes or adjustments to service without authorization from the Talladega Water & Sewer Department. The City of Talladega landfill is closing December 1, 2008. Please help make our city clean and presentable by placing your garbage and trash curbside no more than two days prior to collection and removing your cart no more than one day after collection. Customers having garbage/yard waste curbside more than the three days prior to collection or leaving their cart curbside more than one day after collection are guilty of a misdemeanor and will be subject to a fine or penalties as stated in City Ordinance #1580.
