City of Talladega Employees Give to the Community

(Talladega, AL) Talladega Fire Department’s C-Shift recently donated $275 dollars and 10 bicycle helmets to the Talladega County Department of Human Resources Foster Children’s Christmas Fund, which requested helmets after a local church donated bicycles. Due to critical safety rules, the children could only receive the bikes if they also received helmets. Talladega fire fighters were eager to help.

“Our fire fighters strive to protect and contribute to our community throughout the year,” said Fire Chief Danny Warwick. “By donating helmets, we are able to promote safety while also letting the community know that we value our residents.”

“I applaud the Talladega Fire Department for assisting and bringing joy to youth in our city by donating potentially life-saving helmets,” said City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr.  “Employees in every City of Talladega department found ways to give back to our community this Christmas by partnering with local organizations to provide much-needed gifts and donations.”

City employees from every department came together to purchase a plethora of toys, clothing, shoes and other gifts for 16 kids at Presbyterian Home for Children, and the Talladega Police Department continued its annual tradition of providing gifts for youth in the community.

“The Talladega Police Department raised $1920.00 for gifts for four local teens in foster care as well as two children on the Kiwanis Club Christmas gift list this year,” said Talladega Police Chief Diane Thomas. “The event began over five years ago as No Shave November.  Each year, officers can pay money to maintain their beards, and the funds raised go towards gifts for youth in the community.”
