Glow-in-the-Dark Easter Egg Hunt

Glow-in-the-Dark Easter Egg Hunt

(Talladega, AL) In anticipation of the City of Talladega's Easter Egg Hunt this weekend, Talladega Parks and Recreation has changed the lighting on the Big Springs fountain to soft pastel shades.

The Glow-in-the-Dark Easter Egg Hunt, which will be held at Veterans Park on Saturday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m., will be equally radiant. Children 12 and under may participate. Bring baskets and flashlights!

In the meantime, Talladega Parks and Recreation Department Director Summer Ammons urges the community to check out the fountain's new look.

“We hope that passersby will enjoy the beautiful spring colors, and maybe even pause for Easter photos,” said Ammons.

Interim City Manager Danny Warwick applauded Talladega Main Street (TMS) for funding the earlier renovation of the fountain, which made the "Easter glow" possible.

"We are so appreciative of Talladega Main Street for spearheading and funding the renovation of such an important Talladega treasure. In addition to having the lighting installed and making extensive electrical repairs, Main Street had the fountain professionally cleaned and painted," he said.

"The Talladega Main Street Design Committee commissioned the renovation of the fountain and used only local contractors," said TMS Executive Director Cathy Roehrig. "Talladega Parks and Recreation, Public Works, and Community Appearance also provided great assistance throughout the process."

Although glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunts are a relatively new phenomenon, they have become increasingly popular as more groups and organizations have discovered the joy of nighttime egg hunts.
