(Talladega, AL) R.K. Allen Oil presented the City of Talladega with a $2,500 donation for Christmas on the Square (COTS) 2023, which will be held December 8 - 10, 2023.

“Talladega has been home to R.K. Allen Oil since 1967, when my father founded the company and initially served as owner and sole employee,” said Ken Allen Jr. “We are so proud to help bring joy to the community during the holiday season by supporting Christmas on the Square.”

"Ken Allen Sr. was a founder of Davey Allison Memorial Park. Two years ago, when the city revived the annual Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony and Block Party at the park, the Allen family provided indispensable information, advice and support," said City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr. "In addition to continuing to support the Walk of Fame activities, they have shown their deep commitment to our city by stepping forward to support Christmas on the Square."

Here are a few Christmas on the Square highlights: The skating rink will open for the weekend outside the courthouse from 6 pm - 9 pm on Friday, December 8, and the Polar Express Movie and Best Pajama Contest will be held at the Historic Ritz Theatre at 6:00 pm on Friday, December 8.  From 10 am - 6 pm, on Saturday, December 9, and noon - 6 pm on Sunday, December 10, holiday craft activities for children will be held at Miss April’s Workshop; vendors, ice skating, food trucks, holiday train rides and a kids’ ride will be on the Square; and additional Christmas movies will be featured at the Historic Ritz Theatre (see schedule below).

Movie times for Saturday: Frozen at 11 a.m., Frozen ll at 2 p.m., and This Christmas at 6 p.m.

Movie times for Sunday: Elf at 1 p.m. and Animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas at 4 p.m.
