Talladega airport manager Jim Brock is legendary

(Talladega, AL) City of Talladega employee Jim Brock, who manages the Talladega Municipal Airport at Talladega Superspeedway, was pleasantly surprised to be named a “Legendary Employee” by NASCAR's biggest track.  In addition to Brock, honorees included Patrick Barfield, Brian Crichton, Dr. Bobby Lewis, Chip Smith and the EMS Team.

Although Jim has worked for the city for four and a half years, he continues to leave a lasting impact at Talladega Superspeedway, where he was employed for 36 years. In addition to his role as manager of the city’s airport, Jim has held positions in fire and safety; served as an emergency medical technician and paramedic; and worked in transportation at the track.

“Through his position at the airport, Jim Brock has had the opportunity to meet countless drivers, including the acclaimed Allisons. He has also been honored to meet Nick Saben, Sam Walton, Gene Chizik and many other celebrities during race weekends,” said Talladega City Manager Derrick Swanson. “While Jim does a fabulous job of welcoming our VIP visitors to Talladega, one of the things people love about him is that he knows how to make every single person - including his coworkers - feel valued and important. That is a legendary trait.”

While Jim is thrilled that Talladega has attracted so many big names, including Michael Jordan, Kid Rock, Ron White, Kirby Smart, Maury Povich and Connie Chung, he says, “Anyone who comes to Talladega or to the race is our customer, and is just as important as everyone else.”

His commitment to providing outstanding service to all is undoubtedly one of the many reasons Talladega Superspeedway named Jim a Legendary Employee.
