(Talladega, AL) Talladega City Manager Derrick Swanson received the 2024-2025 Sam Gaston Vocational Excellence Award during the Alabama City County Management Association (ACCMA) Summer Conference in Perdido Beach.
The award is named in honor of Mountain Brook City Manager Sam Gaston, who served as 2011-2012 ICMA president.
"It is in recognition of the innovations, achievements and successes Derrick Swanson and his team have brought to the City of Talladega," said Gaston, who presented the award to Swanson.
The award acknowledges Swanson's excellence in professional management, fiscal responsibility, risk management and economic development in local government.
“I am honored to be recognized by my peers and proud of the positive attention this award brings to our city,” said Swanson. “This recognition is not just a reflection of my own efforts, but a testament to the talent and tenacity of my entire team.”
Swanson was also elected to serve on the ACCMA Board of Directors.
The Alabama City/County Management Association (ACCMA) exists to advance professional management in Alabama’s city and county governments and support the professional development of its members and other local government officials.
