Talladega Parks and Recreation archery team registration

Talladega Parks and Recreation archery team registration

(Talladega, AL) Registration for Talladega Parks and Recreation Department's Youth Archery Team will be held April 22, 2024 - May 10, 2024, at the Spring Street Recreation Center.  The cost is $75. Ages 10 -18 are eligible to participate. Please bring a copy of your child's birth certificate.

In addition to being one of the oldest sports in the world, archery is among the nation’s fastest growing sports. The Talladega Parks and Recreation Department formed its first archery team in 2017.  Each year, Talladega’s team competes in the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) State Archery Tournament in Dothan, Alabama.

“Archery is a fun sport that helps instill discipline, patience, and confidence while also helping to improve focus and teach teamwork skills," said Talladega Parks and Recreation Director Summer Ammons.

“Last year, we took four students to the state competition. All four placed among the top three in their age group, and Levi Scaife placed first in the twelve-and-under boys' category,” said Program Coordinator Luke Thomas.

“Through our parks and recreation department, the city provides an array of activities and events that promote health and well-being; enrich lives; and bring joy to our residents,” said Interim City Manager Danny Warwick. "We are proud of the programs we offer and the positive impact they have on our community.”

In addition to archery, Talladega Parks and Recreation offers basketball, baseball, t-ball, softball, soccer, football, cheerleading, gymnastics, ballet, track and field, zumba, pickleball, diverse aquatic programs, activities for seniors, an indoor walking trail, a fitness zone and more.
