Talladega police captains honored

Talladega police captains honored

(Talladega, AL)  Captain Ron McElrath and Captain Robert Curtis of the Talladega Police Department were recently honored at the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police (AACOP) Winter 2024 Conference and Expo in Montgomery, Alabama.

Captain McElrath and Captain Curtis were recognized for completing their 40-hours Certificate of Attendance in Police Management, which exceeds required police training. The award was presented by the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police and the University Partnership of Alabama.

“I commend Captain McElrath and Captain Curtis for demonstrating a sincere commitment to excellence,” said Talladega Police Chief Diane Thomas. "They understand the importance of continuous growth and improvement, and they are committed to serving our community with pride and integrity,”

AACOP represents over 350 professional chiefs of police in the state of Alabama.  The organization’s mission includes improving the quality and professionalism of law enforcement in Alabama via state-of-the-art training and continuing education; hosting two informative conferences each year; and providing regular news updates on issues such as safety, security and relevant legislation.

AACOP members serve on diverse statewide committees ensuring safety for all Alabama citizens.
