Board members serve staggered terms. The Board consists of five individuals: Two members shall be appointed by the Governor for a term of four years; one member shall be elected by members of the classified service, initially for a term of three years and, thereafter, for a term of four years; and two members were appointed by the City Council for an initial term of two years, with the renewal terms being terms of four years, each.
The Board is established and serves in accordance with Alabama Law #2004-436, adopted by the State Legislature in May 2004 and signed into law by Governor Bob Riley on May 12, 2004.
Meeting Time: The Board has scheduled its regular meeting time as the second Wednesday of February, May, August and November at 3:30 P.M.
